Child Passenger Safety Program
Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPS) use their considerable knowledge and expertise at a variety of community-based events, such as child safety seat checks, where parents and caregivers receive education and hands-on assistance.
The goal of all the CPS Technicians is to:
• Educate caregivers on the proper use of car seats so the risk of hospitalization, injury and death is greatly reduced for children.
• Provide basic technical knowledge about car seats, booster seats and seat belt systems.
• Create opportunities to develop and practice effective communication skills to educate caregivers on the safe transportation of children.
• Provide information on child restraint laws, check for car seat recalls and educate care givers on how to properly install a car seat.
